LINCOLN, MT — Ending a six-month manhunt, the infamous “Mailbot Bomber” has reportedly been identified by the FBI and taken into custody. The suspect, Trent Kaminsky, is a former US postal officer upset over having lost his job to the USPS mailbot trucks that deliver postage using robotic arms attached to self-driving electric vehicles. After the introduction of mailbots, all US postal officers were forced into early retirement twelve years ago and given generous severance packages on top of their monthly Digital Dollar Dividend (D$D).
Kaminsky is believed to be responsible for at least sixteen bombings of USPS mailbot trucks across the country using electromagnetic pulses (EMPs) designed to damage all electronic equipment within its blast radius. The EMP bombs were sent via the mail in packages timed to explode during transport to avoid human casualties. However, the bombings resulted in several injuries from automobile accidents, as well as the destruction of other mail and packages plus millions of dollars in damages to government property.
The Mailbot Bomber published a manifesto online in which he stated his goal of reducing public trust in AI and robotics in order to return automated jobs to humans. “The automation of the workforce and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race,” Kaminsky wrote on his Substack, Freedom Club. “A human’s job is about more than just making money. Robots are taking away our meaning in life.”
Kaminsky is currently awaiting trial. He has declined a public AI-attorney and will be defending himself in court.
